A violent and deadly crash at a stop light in Wauwatosa killed three people Dec. 13. New video obtained Friday by WISN 12 News shows what happened the day a Milwaukee Department of Public Works truck slammed into nine cars stopped at the light.Dozens of videos from Wauwatosa police show interviews with witnesses and survivors, the moments people tried to help and the actual crash itself.Surveillance video captured the DPW truck going fast down Mayfair Road just before the crash. Another camera caught the actual collision. A Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s report said the DPW truck was going 60 to 70 miles per hour when it hit multiple cars stopped at the light. Images show the aftermath of flames, mangled cars and people running to help. Police body-worn camera footage show one witness’ account of the crash.”All of a sudden I saw the DPW truck flash in my vision, it was going quite fast. Just smashed. There was a huge collision, fire started immediately,” the witness said. The witness told the officer he attempted to help the DPW driver out of the truck. “She was wedged right up against the steering wheel, and there was nothing I could have done,” the witness said.The impact killed 64-year-old Denise Durrah, the DPW truck driver. Eighty-five-year-old Paul Woida of Milwaukee and 40-year-old Amy Miller of Cedarburg also died. Several others were hospitalized, including one man interviewed by police at his hospital bedside. “I heard the brakes. I was like, ‘Oh (expletive)!'” one survivor told an officer. “Honestly, I’m surprised you walked away without more injuries than you have,” the officer said.In December, Durrah’s daughter, Maggie Rosera, told WISN 12 News Durrah “did experience a medical emergency and could not maintain control of the vehicle. This is supported by her medical history and events leading up to the accident.”The medical examiner’s office told WISN 12 News Friday Durrah’s official cause of death is pending.
